Kala (pronounced ka-lay) is home to contemporary American handmade crafts. Kala features jewelry, pottery, glass, wood, metal, and much more. Kala represents juried artists from across the US, with nearly half of being North Carolina artists.
Owners, Terry and Fransien Brown, began dreaming of owning a gallery when they began acquiring pottery, glass and paintings in their early years of marriage. Every time they left a gallery, they felt refreshed and renewed. That is the power of art, touching people in an emotional way. This experience and the pleasure of art is what they wanted to share with others.
As their gallery came to fruition, two goals that were important to them:
*To provide affordable high quality juried art.
*To support American artists because handmade in America matters.
Both goals have been accomplished. At Kala, customers will find something to meet every budget. By representing over 100 American artists we are contributing to the employment of these artists.
By shopping at small locally owned businesses such as Kala more of your hard-earned money goes back into the local economy thereby having a greater impact on your community.
