Kala (pro­nounced ka-lay) is home to con­tem­po­rary Amer­i­can hand­made crafts.  Kala fea­tures jew­elry, pot­tery, glass, wood, metal, and much more.  Kala rep­re­sents  juried artists from across the US, with nearly half of being North Car­olina artists.

Own­ers, Terry and Fran­sien Brown, began dream­ing of own­ing a gallery when they began acquir­ing pot­tery, glass and paint­ings in their early years of mar­riage.  Every time they left a gallery, they felt refreshed and renewed. That is the power of art, touch­ing peo­ple in an emo­tional way.  This expe­ri­ence and the plea­sure of art is what they wanted to share with others.

As their gallery came to fruition, two goals that were impor­tant to them:

*To pro­vide afford­able high qual­ity juried art.

*To sup­port Amer­i­can artists because hand­made in Amer­ica matters.

Both goals have been accom­plished.  At Kala, cus­tomers will find some­thing to meet every bud­get.  By rep­re­sent­ing over 100 Amer­i­can artists we are con­tribut­ing to the employ­ment of these artists.

By shop­ping at small locally owned busi­nesses such as Kala more of your hard-earned money goes back into the local econ­omy thereby hav­ing a greater impact on your community.

ABOUT OUR AREA
Kala is located at a main inter­sec­tion in the heart of down­town Mor­gan­ton in the for­mer his­toric Corn­well Phar­macy.  The His­toric Cour­t­house is across the street which is host for many dif­fer­ent events through­out the year.

Nes­tled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Moun­tains of west­ern North Car­olina, Kala is one hour from Asheville, NC and one and a half hours from Char­lotte, NC.  The high moun­tain coun­try of Blow­ing Rock is within half an hour drive.

We regret that we can­not offer refunds, but are happy to extend a store credit within 7 days of pur­chase. Exchanges must be accom­pa­nied by sales receipt. Mer­chan­dise must be returned in good condition.
